It was raining this morning. My sister’s yard has been turned into a meadow, and this morning the spiderwebs had glistening raindrops on them.

The sluggishness I reported last week turned out to be anemia, probably from an upper GI bleed. So she is on some tummy medicine in addition to the antibiotic and the immunosuppressant. The tummy medicine has to be squirted into her mouth, which takes at least three hands to do effectively. And it has to be taken at least two hours away from food, whereas the antibiotic needs to be taken with food. So from her point of view, she’s getting tortured 4 times a day instead of only twice. She’s eating normally, but still slowing down a lot on a walk of over a mile.
We will be meeting this week (Tuesday, June 29) at Stuart’s in Somerville. Please let both me and Stuart know if you are coming.
She was at the vet on Thursday and she seemed to be normal, and her platelet count has returned to normal. The vet expects to taper her off the medications over the next few weeks. This morning she seemed sluggish, but my sister thinks it’s the heat.

There was no meeting. Maia was sick and I had to spend time taking her to the vet and giving her pills, and other people decided not to have it.
We’ll be meeting tomorrow, June 22, at Wendy Grey’s house in Newton Corner. Let both me and Wendy know if you’re coming.
She was obviously listless and had discharge from her eyes, and was walking really slow. The only numeric abnormality the vet found was a very low platelet count. Which could mean lots of things, the most likely of which are either an infection or an auto-immune disorder.
So she’s been taking antibiotic and immunosuppressant pills and immediately started feeling much better. The next day her platelet count was up about 20%.
She seems pretty normal now. I’m taking her back to the vet today.
